Shenzhen Boa'an Internation Airport, formerly the Shenzhen Huangtian airport serves the major city of Shenzhen and Hong Kong (the airport is 60 km north of Hong Kong).
Shenzhen was one of the first areas designated as a Special Economic Zones in 1979 and since then it has grown from a tiny fishing village into a huge metropolis of 14 million people and one of the richest cities in China.
The Boa'an airport is with over 26 million passengers a year one of the largest airports in China. Unique is that the airport has a ferry route to Hong Kong International Airport for transferring passengers. With this, passengers do not need to pass customs and immigration while connecting to an other flight.
After four years of construction the new Terminal was opened in 2013. This new terminal has a length of 1.6 km and includes a indoor and outdoor swimming pool and a Marriott Hotel. The Bao'an Airport has two runways.
The Boa'an airport is situated 30 km northwest of Shenzhen center.
The airport is located at Metro line 1, making it the easiest and cheapest way into the city. There are several options if you plan to go straight to Hong Kong: you can take the bus, train or ferry.

Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport is not a large airport so there are not many flights departing here. There are only a few destinations that you can reach from Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport, most of these are operated by Korean Air. Many people take a flight to Seoul and transfer to another flight there.
