Airport info Airport information Incheon International Seoul (ICN)

The Incheon International Airport of Seoul is South Korea’s largest and busiest airport with close to 40 million passengers a year. The Incheon Airport is also one of the best airports in the world according to SkyTrax; it has been voted in the top three since 2009.

The airport opened in 2001 and is constructed on reclaimed land between two islands of the coast of Incheon, 48 km west of Seoul. The airport has its own casino, ice skating ring, hotels, museum and golf course, so long transfer times is not a real problem anymore.

The airport has three parallel runways and one terminal. A concourse building was added to the main terminal in 2008 which adds more gates for arrivals and landing but the check-in, baggage reclaim and customs are still done in the main terminal building. The concourse building and the main terminal are connected by an 870 meters long underground shuttle train. All foreign airlines have their departures and arrivals in the concourse building while Korean airlines (Korean Air, Asiana and Busan Airlines) use the gates in the main building.
