Southwest Airlines sets course for Hawaii with tickets on sale in 2018

It’s official: After years of anticipation and speculation, Southwest Airlines is finally saying aloha to Hawaii, with plans to launch service there as soon as next year.

“It’s almost surreal, people have been talking about it so long it’s hard to believe it’s actually here,” Andrew Watterson, the Dallas-based carrier's executive vice president and chief revenue officer, said Wednesday. “It comes up in almost every employee meeting where there's more than 10 people. It gets asked about by customers every day."
