Dubai Airports has suspended the use of smart gates at Dubai International Airport (DXB) and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC) to limit the spread of coronavirus (Covid-19).

Passengers leaving from both airports will not be allowed to use the smart gates that allow passengers to scan their national IDs and passports.

This measure is in accordance with the General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and health authorities’ directives.

In addition, the airport is also carrying out thermal screening for travellers entering the airport from high-risk countries such as China, Italy, Thailand, Lebanon and Syria.

As per the guidelines issued by GCAA, flights departing and arriving from China, Bahrain and Iran have been stopped.

Meanwhile, flights that operate between UAE and Saudi Arabia will only operate from Saudi Arabia’s Riyadh, Dammam and Jeddah Airports.
