Lion Air's Image Faces a Hit After Indonesian Crash

JAKARTA, Indonesia "“ While it is still too early to know the cause of Saturday's jet crash in Bali, Lion Air "” possibly the world's most ambitious airline "” can't be happy about the negative press.
Little known outside of the Indonesian archipelago, Lion Air has grabbed global headlines recently with monster orders for more than 500 aircraft. Its big order this year and last year broke the records at both Boeing BA +0.41% and Airbus.
It has been confident a rising middle class in Indonesia and across Southeast Asia will fill all its new planes. However its reputation could take a hit depending on the results of the investigation into Saturday's accident, when one of its planes missed the runway and crashed into shallow waters just off the main airport of the resort island. All 101 passengers and the crew survived the crash.
