Indonesia's debt-strapped Merpati stops 20 routes

JAKARTA: Indonesia's state-owned carrier Merpati Nusantara Airlines will temporarily shutter 20 routes as the debt-strapped airline attempts to shed unprofitable routes, the airline has announced.
Merpati will continue to focus on "pioneer routes" to remote airports - pushing additional routes connecting small airports in eastern Indonesia, corporate secretary Herry Saptanto told the Indonesian news website Tempo.co.
