Bogor is a city located in West Java Province. Bogor has, even for a city located in the tropics, a very high rainfall giving this city its nick name the Rain City. It's located at at an height of 190-330 meters so the atmosphere is mild with an average temperature of 26 degrees Celcius. There are many tourist highlight in Bogor.
Until now, there are 4 different opinions about the origin of the name "œBogor". The first says that "œbogos" comes from "œBuitenzorg" in Netherland occupation time. The second comes from the word "œBaghar or Baqar", a word comes from Arabic influence around Pekojan. The third comes from "œBokor", a sundanese word. The fourth comes from Pa Cilong Poem entitled "œNgadegna Dayeuh Pajajaran" from Pajajaran Kingdom era which means tunggul kawung (sugar palm).

There are many kinds of durian (a large fruit) in Warso Farm or Durian Warso Bogor Plantation. There are 7 different kinds of durian there. They are monthong, petruk, tembaga, sunan, lay, aspar and simas durian. To get to this plantation, you need to take the bogor-Caringin alternative route for about an hour.
You can visit Batutulis Inscription at Jl. Batutulis 54, Bogor Selatan sub-district. There are many museums available as well. Etnobotani Museum, at Jl Ir. H. Juanda 24, provides 2,000 kinds of ethno botany artifacts and flora, many kinds of traditional handicrafts and instruments.
You can also visit Zoologi Museum to see various collections of preserved animals like mammals, birds, fishes, reptiles, amphibians, mollusks, insects and other invertebrates. This Museum is located at Jl Ir. H. Juanda 9.

For you who want to have fun with your children, you can visit Topi Park. If you want to enjoy the smell of tea, just come to Nusantara VIII Plantation. If you want to have an adventure, you can hike Mount Salak Endah and Bunder.
At Sentul Wonderland and Alam Fantasia are many outbound activities you can try to to improve your courage, speed and accuracy skills.
Things to eat
Many special foods here you should eat while in Bogor. One of them is Golosor Noodle. This noodle can only be found in Ramadhan (fasting month). The color of this noodle is golden yellow made and it is made from cassava flour. Or you can taste Unyil cake. It's made from several ingredients like corn, shredded sausage, etc. It's called as unyil for the size is small. Another food you need to taste is fried bean sprout. It's made of noodle, tofu, tauco and bean sprout and served on patat leaf.
