Chiang Mai

Chiang Mai city is the capital of Chiang Mai Province, Thailand as well as being the second largest city in Thailand after Bangkok. The city is also famous for the cold air as it is located in the highlands. Chiang Mai offers many natural scenic beauties besides of course cultural heritage sites such as the Temple of Wat Chiang Man, Wat Phra Singh Temple and many other interesting sights you can visit.

Things to see

There are many attractions in this city. At least there are approximately 300 Buddhist temples that you can find in this city. One of them is the Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep Temple which is one of the famous temples in Chiang Mai. From this place you can clearly see the Chiang Mai view. There is also Wat Chiang Man Temple which is the oldest temple in Chiang Mai, Wat Phra Singh Temple built in 1345 which contains the sacred Buddha image, Phra Singh Buddha. Meanwhile, if you come to this city in April then you will find the Songkran Festival held to commemorate the traditional Thai New Year.

Things to do

You will be able to find a Night Market in this city. You can visit Chang Khlan Street to enjoy the night market. There is also Warorot Market. In contrast to the night market, the market is open from morning until late afternoon. There are various kinds of cloth or fabric you can buy here. But you also have to be good at bargaining to get the cheapest price. While Maesa Valley is one attraction where there is the largest elephant training camp where you can directly interact with them. Meanwhile, if you want to walk around while looking at a collection of the flora and fauna of this country, you can visit Doi Inthanon National Park.

Things to eat

For those of you who are Muslim, you can find halal food in Charoen Phratet Street. You can taste popular foods in this city. One of them is Khao Soi Khao Soy, a kind of egg noodles with curry sauce containing chicken or beef. There is a general culinary menu like Khao Man Kai or commonly referred as Thai Chicken Rice which you should certainly try. For you who like oxtail soup, you can also get one here. Unlike the Indonesian Oxtail Soup, Oxtail Soup here feels more unique, it tastes spicy sour mix with sprinkling cayenne pepper on it.
