Kathmandu

Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal, known for its nickname as a Foreign Thousand Temples. The city is situated in Kathmandu Valley adjacent to the Vishumati River. Apart from being the largest city in Nepal, Kathmandu is also known as a city rich in tradition and spiritual. The city is also famous for its atmosphere of harmony between Buddhists and Hindus for centuries. There are some interesting places you can visit in this city.

Things to see

There are some interesting unique and historic buildings to visit here. Some of them are Batsala Temple located in Kathmandu Durbar Square. Carvings on this temple have a high level of complexity and show the beauty of Shikara architecture style in Nepal. Also in the square of this complex there is a building known as the Chowk Kumari. This building is a place reserved for Kumari, a little girl chosen because it is believed the living reincarnation of Goddess Durga, the mother of the Hindu Goddesses. Visit Nagarkot also. A popular tourist spot located about 32 kilometers to the east of downtown Kathmandu. Sagarmatha which is the summit of Mount Everest and the Himalayan peak can also be seen from this place.

There is a cave which is considered quite sacred by the local people known as the Gupteshwar Cave. This cave is located around 200 kilometers to the west of Kathmandu valley. Inside the cave there is a well preserved Shiva statue. Not far from the cave, you'll find a waterfall called the Davis Falls, a waterfall popular with the beauty and atmosphere of serenity. Visit also Avia Club Nepal located in Narshing Chowk, Thamel, Kathmandu. This place is an entertainment or game center where you can play paragliding and skydiving here. It's a very good place for you to visit.

The food in this city is quite diverse, flavorful and colorful. This is because the local people like to combine a variety of spices in cooking. You can taste Momo, a boiled dumpling of the town which could contain vegetables, fish and potatoes. Dal Bhat Tarkari is a kind of curry with a spicy flavor and aroma that can be served with extra pickles. As for the food with the main ingredient of meat, people rarely consume enough here, especially beef. This may be related to the beliefs of their religion.

Flying to Kathmandu: Kathmandu is served by Tribhuvan International Airport. Tribhuvan International Airport is located about 6 km east from Kathmandu.
