Gunung Rinjani National Park is located on the island of Lombok. Mount Rinjanidi National Park was designated as a National Park through a decree of the Minister of Forestry in 1997. This park has an area of "‹"‹approximately 41,330 hectares with a special type of mountain rain forest and savannah with a unique ecosystem and biodiversity.
Mount Rinjani is the second highest volcano after Mount Kerinci in Sumatra. Mount Kerinci is 3805 meters while the Gunung Rinjani is 3726 meters above sea level.
The most exotic thing that can be found on Mount Rinjani is a lake called Danau Segare Anak (Segare means the sea and Anak means child) and is formed naturally by an eruption of Mount Rinjani. It is called a Sea because the color of the water is blue as the sea. The lake is situated at an altitude of 2800 m.
Lake Anak Segare is by the local community believed to have a healing power that can cure diseases. The lake was once also used as a place of worship and to make magical objects.
Near the lake Segare Anak is also a small mountain called Mount Baru Jari (Mount New Finger). Mount Baru Jari is still active and is difficult to visit.
