Ormoc

Ormoc is a city part of the province of Leyte, Philippines. It is located on the western part of Leyte province and the center of economic, cultural, trade and transport in the region. In addition, Ormoc is also a port city and largest city in the province of Leyte. Native of this city is known as Ormocanons. There are some interesting places that you can find here.

Things to see

One of the interesting places that can be visited here is the Station of the Cross. This place is a religious place and is located approximately 46 kilometers to the southeast of downtown Ormoc. You can also see Lapu Lapu Statue which is located approximately 105 kilometers to the southwest of downtown Ormoc. Along with enjoying beautiful nature around, you can also take pictures with family or friends in this place. Another point of interest is Centennial Park, a park located in downtown Ormoc frequently visited by tourists.

Things to do

There are many places of interest as well as a lot of things you can do in this city. One of them is Lake Danao, a lake that is wide enough and shaped like guitar in Ormoc. The lake was formerly known as Lake Imelda and declared as a national park on June 2nd, 1972. There are boats for rent if you want to try along this lake. There is also Sambawan Island located about 31 kilometers to the north of downtown Ormoc. The island is very charming. You can swim or dive in the coastal region. While another attractive beach is Agta Beach located approximately 65 kilometers to the north of downtown Ormoc. The beach is quite beautiful. Diving at the beach is quite interesting. For golf lovers please visit Leyte Golf and Country Club. This place is located about seven kilometers from downtown Ormoc.

If you visit this city, don't forget to enjoy Chicken Inasal dishes, a typical Filipino roasted chicken which previously had been soaked with ginger chicken, lemongrass, vinegar and smeared with typical annatto oil of Filipino. Another scrumptious food is Pansit or Pancit, the term for the typical Filipino fried noodles. While popular snacks in this city is a kind of sandwich empanadas or pastel and usually contains meat, cheese, vegetables or fruits.
