Sikuai Island is located in Bungus Teluk Kabung, Padang City, West Sumatera Province. It's one of 19 islands included in administrative area of Padang City. This island is only about 30 hectare in size but it has been developed into a tourist destination since 1994. Here, you can go swimming, diving, snorkeling, fishing, trekking or just sitting around at the beach. Divers will definitely be amazed by the astonishing underwater scenery.
Many coconut trees stand in line at the beach and a bit inland is still a tropical forest with a hill to hike. It will take 30 minutes to get to the top of the hill and it has been made easy because there are 369 stairsteps provided for you. As you arrive at the top you will be able to see a whole different view of the island. From the top, you can see not only the sea but also some small islands below. When the weather is good and the dusk arrives you can see a beautiful sunset with a golden color.
Downside is that there is only one resort available here, the New Sikuai Island Resort. The price is starting from IDR 750,000 per night. If you only want to stay in the daytime, you can get a special price for IDR 250,000 per person. The price includes the cost leaving the island, lunch and refreshing coconut water. But you won't be able to see the sunset for at 4 pm you need to leave the island.
Transport options Sikuai Island
The island can be reached by speedboat or rented boat from Teluk Bungus port, Padang city. It can also be reached from Wisata Bahari port on Batang Harau street, Padang for about 25 minutes using speedboat and 60 minutes using regular boat. You will be charged for about IDR 200,000. You can booka day package trip or longer stay at Sikuai Island management office at Wisata Bahari port.
