Things to see
The name Singapore is Malay, meaning Lion City. Be sure to see the famous lion statue, a Singapore's landmark at Merlion Park. Many tourists come here to get a photo with Singapore's iconic statue as background.
Singapore has some excellent museums in the area east of Orchard and wildlife parks (Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and Jurong Bird Park) in the Bukit Timah Nature Reserve.

Singapore is famous for shopping, and while here be sure to check out the excellent shopping centers on Orchid Road where you can find anything you want.
The city has an excellent nightlife and many entertainment options. Sentosa Island is home to several popular attractions, beaches and theme parks, including one of the two casinos.
Things to eat
While in Singapore you may feel that most food on offer is pretty Western but you need to get of the tourist streets to get some authentic Singapore dishes in one of the many restaurants. The Singapore cuisine is mostly Chinese with many foreign influences, mostly Malay and Indian as well as Western. Also, being an island country seafood is a popular ingredient.
Getting to Singapore
Flying to Singapore: Singapore is served by Changi Airport. Changi Airport is located about 15 km east from Singapore. A taxi into the city from Changi Airport would cost SGD 25. Read more about Changi Airport or look for flights to Singapore
