The train set used by Malabar train at the first launching is a series of train that formerly used by Parahyangan train which operation was deactivated on April 27th, 2010. The Malabar train will stop at these stations: Kiaracondong, Cipeundeuy, Tasikmalaya, Banjar, Kroya, Gombong, Kebumen, Kutowinangun, Kutoarjo, Wates, Yogyakarta, Klaten, Solo Balapan, Paron, Madiun, Nganjuk, Kertosono, Kediri, Tulungagung, Blitar, Wlingi and Kepanjen. Malabar train has a train number of KA 85 and KA 86.
