Things to see
There are several museums and temples you can visit. For some history head out to the Sultan Abu Bakar Royal Palace Museum, while if you are maybe interested in pineapples you can visit Johor Pineapple Museum where you will find about eighteen kinds of pineapple grown in the area around the museum.
A more interesting place to visit is probably the Arulmigu Sri Rajakaliamman Hindu Temple, made completely out of glass.
Things to do
Johor Bahru has several theme parks, of which the new Legoland Malaysia is one of the most interesting. Hiking or even camping can be done in Tanjung Piai Johor State Park with many protected and rare flora and fauna. At the Johor Ostrich Farm you can see and learn the uniqueness of ostrich in close range. The beautiful Kota Tinggi Waterfalls, located at the foot of Mount Muntahak, is a popular destination as well.
Things to eat
Nasi Lemak is still the most preferred food in this city. The materials used are still the same, the difference is just that it taste a little different from those in other regions. Besides Nasi Lemak, another favorite dish is Botok-botok made of fish with potato leaves, basil and various spices and then steamed. There is also Nasi Dagang, glutinous rice cooked in coconut milk and served with fish curry and coconut sauce plus pickled cucumbers.
