Senggigi beach is a famous tourist spot in Lombok, Senggigi is not as busy as Kuta Beach and Sanur beach but it's not less exciting as these beaches in Bali. The beach is still very beautiful and one of the best things Senggigi beach has to offer is the underwater scenery. Tourists can go snorkeling easily as the sea is normally very calm. With clear weather you can see the Mount Agung in Bali in the distance.
Around the beach area there are some things you can see and do. Batu Bolong Temple for example, a few kilometers south of Senggigi. Pura Batu Bolong is a Hindu temple on a rock which according to legend was once used for sacrificing virgins to the sharks. It can be reached walking for about 30 minutes.
There are numerous hotels at Senggigi which makes it easy for tourists to stay and spend time at the beach. Among them is the Holiday Inn, Sheraton Senggigi, Melati Dua Cottage, Panorama Cottage and others. Budget option are limited though and are only at the outskirts of the town.
Along the Senggigi Beach are also many souvenir shops that sell a variety of unique crafts such as painting, handicraft, pearl jewelry and woven fabric typical for Lombok.
Transport options Senggigi Beach
There are regular bemos travelling to Senggigi from the Kebon Roek Terminal in Ampenan, Mataram (Rp. 3000) and from the Lembar harbour (Rp. 6000).
A taxi from the airport to Senggigi would cost about Rp.50.000 or you can take a bemo to the Kebon Roek Terminal in Ampenan where you can take the bemo to Senggigi.
