This city is known as its motto, kota Manis, which is the abbreviation of Minat, Aman, Nikmat, Indah and Segar (Interest, Safe, Joyful, Beautiful and Fresh). There are many plantation and silvikultur company settled in this city. Meanwhile, the most famous thing of Pangkalan Bun is the Kecubung Stone usually brought by tourists back home as gifts or souvenirs.
