The airport is owned by the Town of Port Hedland and operated by AMP Capital and Infrastructure Capital Group. The mining boom in this region saw a significant increase in passenger number in recent years and a number of upgrades has been completed which included improved taxiways and upgrade of the arrivals and departure areas.
