Malaga Airport, or Malaga-Costa del Sol Airport, serves the city of Malaga and the tourist region of Costa del Sol on the southern Mediterranean coast of Spain. It is mainly used in the summer for charter flights and seasonal scheduled flights. Malaga Airport opened on this location in 1919 but the airport remained fairly small until the rise of tourism and package holidays in the 1970s. Since then new terminals and a new runway has been built.

How many runways and passenger terminals does Málaga-Costa del Sol Airport have?

The Malaga Airport has now two runways and three passenger terminals, all next to each other. Terminal 1 (T1) is currently closed as all flights have moved to the new Terminal 3 and it is currently refurbished. Terminal 2 (T2) was opened in 1991 and is three floors with departures on the second floor and arrivals on the ground floor. EasyJet, EasyJet Switzerland and Ryanair have their check-in desks here. Terminal 3 (T3) opened in 2008 almost doubling the capacity of the airport. All other airlines have their check-in here.

The airport is located 10 km southwest of Malaga and 5 km north of Torremolinos.

How to get from the airport to Malaga city centre by public transport?

Malaga Airport has a train station opposite Terminal 3. A train to Malaga Centro will cost 1.80 euro for a one-way ticket and takes about 12 minutes. Departure are frequent: three times an hour.
Bus A departs every half hour for downtown Malaga (final stop is the bus station next to the train station), one-way ticket is 3 euro.
