There are many wide rivers in Banjarmasin, one of them is Barito River which has estuary on Kuin River located in North Banjarmasin sub-district, Banjarmasin City, South Kalimantan Province. There's a floating market here in Kuin River. Buyers and merchants do the transaction on traditional boat called jukung or motorized-boat called klotok. There market has been there for 400 years.
If you want to get the sensation shopping while on boat, this market is the right place to be. You need to wake up before dawn to feel the activities for after dawn they to arrange their things. Most of the merchants are old women. Their goods come from their own farm like vegetables and fruits. Best not to come here after 7 am.
Visit also some food stalls here to order typical meal from Banjar, Soto banjar. Soto banjar is different from those coming from other regions for the sauce is thick and served with lontong.
You can still find 'barter' transaction here between buyers and merchants with different goods. If you are interested to visit, you can rent klotok. The owner will be happy to take you around for IDR 100,000. This klotok can carry up to 10 passengers. You can also ask your hotel management about to floating market package tour for many hotels in Banjarmasin usually prepare it.

You will need 45 minutes if you go from Banjarmasin using klotok. Or you can also use land transportation heading to Alalak village from Banjarmasin. As you arrived in Alalak village, you can rent a klotok for IDR 70,000 to get to Muara Kuin floating market.
