Ranu Kumbolo is a lake located in the Tengger Mountains, the foothills of Mount Semeru, Senduro District, Lumajang, East Java Province. This lake is part of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park and is located at an altitude of 2,400 meters above sea level (masl). The lake is quite beautiful with its breathtaking natural scenery. The lake also serves as a transit point, both for hikers who want to go to Mahameru, the summit of Semeru and for the climbers who go down from Mahameru because basically this lake is perfect as a place to unwind your stress while looking at the beautiful view of the sunrise and sunset from the lake .
As has been known previously, this lake is part of the conservation area of Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park and has a considerable wealth of biodiversity of flora and fauna. So as to maintain the authenticity to be not spoiled, there are some rules that must be obeyed by hikers or anyone who visits the lake, such as a ban on activities that have the potential to make lake and its surroundings dirty, including bathing and even swimming in the lake, even fishing on the lake is also prohibited. It is intended to keep the authenticity of the local ecosystem.

Getting here takes about three to five hours trip on foot from the entrance of Mount Semeru located in Ranu Pani. And if you want to continue the journey to the summit of Mount Semeru, Mahameru, there are several paths that you can climb through, from Ranu Pani heading to Ranu Kumbolo to Oro-Oro Ombo, Cemoro Kandang, Kalimati and finally get to Mahameru.
