Masbate

Masbate City is a city located on Masbate Island and the capital of Masbate Province in Philippines. This city is the only city located in the province as well as a major trade and port center in Masbate Island. Masbate Province itself has three main islands, namely Masbate, Ticao and Burias. The population of the city is called as Masbetenos. The town is situated in the middle of Philippine archipelago and also one of the main cities in Bicol Region and the gateway to the Visayas and Mindanao provinces. The city is easily accessible by sea and air.

There are several annual events that you can see in this city, including Pagdayao Festival which is a celebration of gratitude and prayer dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua and is held annually on June 13th. There is also Lapay Bantigue Dance Festival held every September 30th. Not less interesting to watch is the Masbateno Rodeo, the only rodeo show in Asia. This event is usually held in April. Rodeo is cowboy riding farm animals show, one of which is a horse. Pawa Mangrove Ecosystem and Wildlife Park is a place offering panoramic beauty and bird watching. Pawa Mangrove Ecosystem and Wildlife Park is also an ideal spot for fishing and spending time with family for a picnic. Delicious mozzarella cheese is made in this city. The food you must taste while you're in town is Carmelado and Molido. Carmelado is similar to porridge lunkhead in Indonesia, but the food is made from buffalo milk and sugar mixture. Molido is made from potatoes and pili nuts that has sweet flavor.
