Hue

The city is the capital of Thua Thien Hue Province, Vietnam. It is located about 700 kilometers to the south of the national capital Hanoi and 1,100 kilometers to the north of Ho Chi Minh. There is a Perfume River, better known as Song Huong River in this city. Hue City is one city that serves as a center of culture, religion and education which are important in Vietnam. There are many interesting sights and historical buildings can be found here.

Things to see

Hue Imperial City is one of the famous attractions in the city. This place is a former royal palace in the days of Emperor Gia Long. Meanwhile, the Royal Tombs, located on the banks of the Perfume River is a cemetery for the kings who once ruled the Nguyen Dynasty. Some tombs that you can see here are the tomb of King Minh Mang, Khai Dinh and Tu Duc. You can also see one of the famous pagodas in this city, Thien Mu Pagoda. This pagoda is a historic temple which has seven floors. This pagoda is situated on Ha Khe Hill, or about three kilometers from Hue Citadel and situated on the north of the Perfume River.

Things to do

For those of you who like to walk, you can visit Bach Ma National Park. The park is located in the Annamite Range or about 40 kilometers to the south of the central city of Hue. There are many protected rare flora and fauna in this place. One of them is Sao La, a kind of deer found only in Vietnam. While for those who want to spend time with a beautiful ocean atmosphere, you can visit the Tam Giang Lagoon where you can sail here. There is also Vong Canh Hill located about seven kilometers from the center of Hue city. You can stroll while enjoying the beauty of the Perfume River here. For those of you who like to shop, you can visit Dong Ba Market, located along the banks of the Perfume River. There are many interesting souvenirs that you can choose and buy here.

Things to eat

One of the special food in this city is Bun Bo Hue a kind of soup with the taste of Vietnam consisted of vegetables, sliced beef and rice noodles. This soup has a sense of balance between sour, spicy, salty and sweet. As for snacks you can taste Banh Bot Loc a kind of rice cake that contains meat and shrimp. There is also Banh La Cha Tom, a rice cake wrapped in leaves and variety meats, shrimp and egg.
