The Edinburgh Airport is with over 12 million passenger per year the largest airport in Scotland and sixth-busiest in the United Kingdom. The airport provides a wide range of flights to destinations in the UK, continental Europe and North America.
Most flights from Edinburgh Airport are to Amsterdam and to London but there are many more flights to other destinations as well, most of them by easyJet. Every day there are flights to 20 destinations from Edinburgh Airport. Here are the most popular destinations:
The airport has one passenger terminal and is one of the few airports in the UK with two runways. The terminal was opened in 1975 and since then multiple times extended and refurbished. The latest extension of the terminal in 2014 included a rail connection at Edinburgh Airport to the Edinburgh Trams.
The airport is located 15 km west of the city center of Edinburgh.
Since 2014 is the airport connected to the Edinburgh Trams. A tram leaves the airport for the Edinburgh city center every 10 minutes, but there is no service in the night. One-way ticket is 5.50 pound, which can be bought at the vending machines.
Alternatively you can take one of the airport buses: Airlink 100 runs every 10 minutes, and every 30 minutes in the night (then becomes line N22) and can bring you to the city center for 4 pounds. SkyLink 200 runs from the airport to the Ocean Terminal center in Leith.
