The Chennai International Airport, formerly known as Madras International Airport is the third busiest airport in India after Delhi and Mumbai and is also the third airport in India connected to the cities subway system after Delhi and Kolkata.
Chennai Airport is the main gateway into southern India but not as many foreign airlines fly to Chennai as they do to Mumbai or Delhi.
Chennai International Airport is not a large airport so there are not many flights departing here. There are only a few destinations that you can reach from Chennai International Airport, most of these are operated by Air India. Many people take a flight to Delhi and transfer to another flight there.
