The small Sunshine Coast Airport is the gateway to the white sand beaches of the Sunshine coast. The airport is mostly a domestic airport and has only connections to Sydney and Melbourne. Recently though Air New Zealand has started twice-weekly international flights between Auckland and Sunshine Coast Airport.
The airport was formerly named Maroochydore Airport.
Although the airport is small, the facilities are pretty decent with ATMs, a cafe, several shops and car rental service.
Sunshine Coast Airport is not a large airport so there are not many flights departing here. There are only a few destinations that you can reach from Sunshine Coast Airport, most of these are operated by Virgin Australia. Many people take a flight to Melbourne and transfer to another flight there.
Sunshine Coast Airport is located 10 km north of Sunshine Coast and 100 km north of Brisbane, on the east-coast of Australia in Queensland.
Several companies offer a door-to-door shuttle service from the airport to your destination (around $20 per person). SunAir runs the service for destinations in the southern part while Henrys Airport Shuttle offers this service for destinations in Noosa and northern parts of the Sunshine Coast.
The Translink/Sunbus bus line 622 plying the route between Maroochydore and Noosa Junction stops every hour at the airport terminal as well.
Taxies at Sunshine Coast Airport are available as well but considering the distance to your destination they can be expensive: a trip into the city can cost $30.00 while to Noosa it will be close to $100.
