Karel Sadsuitubun Airport is the new airport for Tual, north Maluka, replacing the old Dumatubin Airport which is now closed for civil use and has been transformed to a military airfield. Karel Sadsuitubun Airport opened in 2014 and was built to handle the increase of tourists coming for the pristine beaches on the Kai Islands.
Karel Sadsuitubun Airport is not a large airport so there are not many flights departing here. There are only a few destinations that you can reach from Karel Sadsuitubun Airport, most of these are operated by Lion Air. Many people take a flight to Ambon and transfer to another flight there.
The new Tual Airport has one runway, which since opening in 2014 has been extended several times already to accommodate B737s, and one small passenger terminal.
Karel Sadsuitubun Airport is located about 13 km south of Tual city center, on the east coast on Jl. Kabupaten.
