The new and modern Mandalay International Airport opened in 17th September 2000 and is one of the few international airports of Myanmar (Burma). The airport is located 45 km south of central Mandalay and for some reason has the longest runway in Southeast Asia. The airport is fairly small though with one terminal and just over 1 million passengers a year but it has all facilities like ATMs, restaurant, currency exchange, travel agencies and even a post office.
