All Nippon Airways or commonly abbreviated as ANA is Japan's largest airline with it base at Tokyo's Narita International Airport. ANA operates an extensive Japanese domestic network and controls several other Japanese airlines: its regional airline ANA wings and low-cost carriers Vanilla Air and Air Do.
All Nippon Airways was formed by the merger of tho airline companies in 1958: Far East Airlines and Nippon Helicopter (the source of the IATA code NH for All Nippon). Until the 1980's ANA stayed a domestic carrier only. ANA's first international flight started in 1986 from Tokyo to Guam. Since then gradually more destinations were added with Los Angeles and Washington that the same year and Beijing, Dalian and Hong Kong the next year.
