Qatar Airways is the state-owned national airline of Qatar, on the Arabian Peninsula. It is often compared to Emirates, both of which have grown quickly and use the same strategy. Qatar Airways is part of the Qatar Airways Group which also includes the Doha International Airport and ground handling and catering companies.
Qatar Airways was founded in 1993 and started flying with a few second-hand aircraft to destinations in the region. Seven years later Qatar Airways ordered their first new Airbus and since then many have followed. The airline now operates a fleet of around 170 aircraft, most of which are Airbus A320-200 for regional flights and Boeing 777-300ER for long-distance flights. Qatar Airways also operates the Airbus A380 superjumbo. Qatar Airways has placed orders for another 200 aircraft.
The Economy Class of Qatar Airways was named best in the world in the 2009 and 2010 Skytrax awards. They feature individual screens and a seat pitch of up to 34 inches. The newer Economy seats on the 787 will be smaller though and will only have 32 inch pitch.
Qatar Airways flies to over 180 destinations. Most Qatar Airways flights are for destinations in United States but Qatar Airways has international flights to several other countries as well, like for example India and China. From its main base in Doha 254 flights depart every week. Many people who look for Qatar Airways tickets look for flights to London and Jakarta.

The rules for checked baggage are a bit more complicated and depend on the route. As a general rule Economy Class passengers can check in 30 kg, Business 40 kg and First Class 50 kg, with total dimensions (height x width x depth) of less than 300 cm.
For flights to and from Brazil all passengers are allowed to bring two pieces of each 32 kg (but with smaller dimensions), except Economy Class passengers between flights between Brazil and Argentina, they may check in two pieces of 23 kg. For flights to other American countries and Africa also other rules apply. Best to check the website of Qatar Airways for details.
Cancellations and changing flight time and date is possible on Qatar Airways tickets but a fee must be paid. Both can be done easily on the website of Qatar Airways. As a general rule more cheaper tickets have higher fees than more expensive Flexi tickets. Flexi tickets are fully refundable and can be changed free of charge up to three hours before departure.
Qatar Airways has these four ticket classes: Promo Fare (lowest fare but with highest fees), Saver Fare (base fare, and are changeable and refundable for a fee), Value Fare (reduced fees) and the Flexi Fare (without any fees).
