The Rotorua Regional Airport serving Rotorua is a medium-sized airport in New Zealand. The Rotorua Regional Airport is located just 6 km northeast of the Rotorua CBD. The airport was until recently called International instead of Regional one as Air New Zealand offered flights from Rotorua to Sydney, Australia, but these were terminated in 2015 when the District Counsel decided to stop subsidising this route. The airport is fairly small but it does has a book store and cafe and a two-storey terminal building. At the moment Air New Zealand Link operates flights from Rotorua Airport to Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch while Sunair can bring you to Gisborne or North Shore. There are plans to expand this list with Nelson and Queenstown.
