The deadliest accident in aviation history was in a similair situation like this: On March 27, 1977, the crowded airport of Gran Canaria (Spain) did not had radar yet and there was a thig fog limiting sight. A KLM Boeing 747 was planning to take off while a PanAm Boeing was also on the runway. The two planes collided with 583 people killed, only 61 people survived the crash.
