The Alicante-Elche Airport, formerly El Altet Airport is the fifth-busiest airport in Spain and serves the city of Alicante as well as the surrounding Murcia Region. The airport has grown rapidly last decade as several low-cost airlines use Alicante-Elche Airport as a base, like Ryanair, Vueling and Norwegian Air Shuttle. Ryanair is now the leading airline at the airport, accounting for 30% of all passenger traffic.

The airport had two terminals but they are now closed down and replaced by a brand-new Terminal N, which opened in 2011. The terminal is divided into one part for flights to Non-Schengen destinations and to Schengen destinations.
The airport is located about 10 km southwest of Alicante.
Bus line C-6 connects the Alicante-Elche Airport to the city. It departs in front of the terminal at the departures level (level +2). The bus will take you in 20 minutes and for 4 euro to the city with stops at the bus station, central market, train station and more. The bus departs every 20 minutes but not at night: it operates between 6am and 11pm.

Official airport taxis are waiting outside the arrival level (level 0). A taxi into the city will cost about 25 euro.
