Malacca International Airport (formerly Batu Berendam Airport) is a small airport serving the city of Malacca / Melaka. A brand new terminal was constructed in 2009 as well as an extension of the runway to accommodate larger planes.
But still only a few airlines have regular flights to Malacca, mostly to and from Indonesia since Malacca is a popular destination for medical services for Indonesians from Sumatra.
If you are planning on visiting Malacca best to look for flights to the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) since that is only a 2 hours drive away. Transnasional has 4 direct buses a days to Malacca departing from the KLIA bus station.
Malacca International Airport is located 9 km north of the old city center of Malacca, a 30 minutes by car.
If by any change you are coming to Malacca for a medical treatment it is easy: all major hospitals offer free pick-up services. Otherwise, you would need to walk to the main road where two bus lines pass on their way to the main city terminal (Melaka Sentral): the Bantang bus or Tuahbas No.65.
