The MAG Osmani International Airport, named after the Sylheti war hero General Osmani, is located about 8 km north of the city of Sylhet in northeastern Bangladesh. The Sylhet airport is used mostly for domestic routes to Dhaka by United Airways, Regent Airways, NovoAir and Biman Bangladesh and is a popular destination for expatriates living in England and the Middle East as Biman Bangladesh Airlines operates a direct flight from Sylhet to London and to several Middle Eastern capitals.
Sylhet Osmani International Airport is not a large airport so there are not many flights departing here. There are only a few destinations that you can reach from Sylhet Osmani International Airport, most of these are operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines. Many people take a flight to Dhaka and transfer to another flight there.
Taxis and rickshaws are available in front of the terminal near the car park. The city is not that far away and the ride into town will take less than a half hour.
