Kochi

Kochi formerly known as Cochin is a city in southern India, particularly in the state of Kerala. Kochi climate is likely tropical, unlike many cities in northern India which tend to be hot and dry. Characteristic of Kochi city is a palm tree that grows in almost every corner of the city, you could see palm trees as far as you can see. Kochi itself is divided into two, Fort Cochin which is identical to an old city and Ernakulam, a city side which is more modern. Both city are often referred as the twin cities and bordered by backwaters, it's a lake straight through to the ocean .

Things to see

Kochi is one of the tourist destinations in Kerala, India. There are many interesting places that can be visited here. Hill Palace, is the largest archaeological museum building in Kerala, India. Here you can see a collection of Kochi kings ranging from painting to armories. Dutch Palace or Mattanchery Palace is also a valuable historical building. This building used to be a gift for the Maharaja of Cochin, Veera Kerala Varma built by the Portuguese in 1555. Want to enjoy the fresh air with green eyes soothing scenery, you can visit Munnar Hill Station. It is surrounded by tea plantations and mountains of graphite. This place is one honeymoon destination. Moreover, you can enjoy classical dance and drama typical of Kerala when visiting Kerala Kathakali Center. There is also a unique place called Cheena Vala. There is an interesting scene, Chinese fishing nets which is the fishing technique in China 500 years ago. This location is one of the typical symbol of Kerala.

Visiting Kochi city is not complete if you do not take the time to get around in the old town of Fort Kochi. This city used to be called as Old Kochi. Fort Kochi is a city where there are many historic buildings and old houses with unique architecture and relics from the colonial period. You can also surround Kerala Backwater with a boat that you can rent. Kerala Backwater is very unique because although it is directly adjacent to the sea but it's still a freshwater lake. It feels incomplete without shopping for souvenirs. You can visit the street in between the Synagogue and the Dutch Palace. Along the way is filled with shops selling very unique and interesting souvenirs of India.

Things to eat

Kochi has a distinctive culinary made of rice. Some famous culinary are biryani rice, rice cooked with spices and meat; ghee rice, oil rice served with meat curry; egg paratha or similar to egg martabak without content suitable for breakfast; and pathiri pancakes as thin as paper.
