Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport, previously named Bucharest Otopeni Airport, is the largest international airport of Romania. The airport is named after Henri Coanda (1886 – 1972), a Romanian inventor and flight pioneer and is the base for Tarom, Romania's national airline. Also several low-cost airlines have a base at this airport: Wizz Air, Ryanair and Blue Air.
Most flights from Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport are to Amsterdam and to Frankfurt but there are many more flights to other destinations as well, most of them by Tarom. Every day there are flights to 16 destinations from Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport. Here are the most popular destinations:
Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport has one terminal which is divided into three parts, commonly named Terminals as well: the Departures Terminal, Arrivals Terminal and the Finger Terminal (where the gates are).
The airport is located about 20 km north of downtown Bucharest.
Bucharest Henri Coanda International Airport has several public transport options.
Express bus 783 connects the airport with Bucharest city center, it takes about 40 minutes and departs every 20 minutes but less frequent during the night. Express bus 780 connects the airport to the main train station (Bucuresti Nord / Gara de Nord). This bus departs every 40 minutes but not at night. Tickets can not be bought from the driver but you need to buy an Activ card from the ticket booth in front of the terminal. Fare with the Activ card is RON 3.50 but add another RON 3.70 for the card itself.
The airport does not have a train station yet, but a shuttle bus can bring you to the nearest train station where you can take the train to Gara de Nord. Combined tickets for the shuttle and train can be bought inside the terminal at the CFR booth. One-way ticket is RON 8.10. The trip with shuttle and train will take less than an hour.

Official airport taxis are waiting outside the terminal. Take a ticket from the booth and wait for your turn. The metered taxi fare to the city center is about RON 30. Be careful with taxis though because Romanian taxi drivers are famous for their scams.
