Flying to or from Brunei used to be an expensive undertaking but Airasia now flies to Brunei from their hub in Kuala Lumpur, connecting Brunei to their low-cost network. The airport is also used by the Royal Brunei Air force and is the main hub for the flag carrier Royal Brunei Airlines.

The Brunei International Airpor is a small but functional airport with only one runway and just few million passengers a year. There are two terminals, the International terminal for mere mortals like us and the Royal Terminal for the Sultan's flights.
The Brunei International Airport is located about 8 km north from the capital Bandar Seri Begawan.
Public buses are available outside the Arrivals hall. Before you need to walk past the car park but now the bus stop has moved close to the terminal. Just walk left after exiting. A Purple bus to the city costs only B$1.
A taxi into the city will cost you around B$30 and takes up to an half hour.
