The Legazpi International Airport is the main airport in the Bicol Region that serves the city of Legazpi in Albay Province. Legazpi is a fairly small airport with around a half a million passengers a year.
The airport is only about 12 km from the crater of Mount Mayon. The volcano often erupts forcing the airport to close due to the ash-rain. This airport is usually only open from sunrise to sunset due to limited night-landing equipment.
Legazpi Airport will be replaced by the new Bicol International Airport or also called Southern Luzon International Airport which is currently under construction, just a few kilometers from the old airport. The new airport is expected to open end of 2018.
Legazpi Airport is very close to the city, just two kilometers west from downtown Legazpi.
There are several transport options for getting into the city. Outside the arrivals area are tricycles waiting who can take you to the city for around PHP 80. Taxis are available here as well (PHP 200).
Cheapest option is to use a jeepney but for that you need to walk out of the airport as far as 500 meters. Take the one marked 'B'. Jeepney fare is PHP 40.
