The Bangalore Kempegowda Airport is a new airport, it opened in 2008, and has one terminal for both international and domestic flight. The airport is served by 10 domestic and 21 foreign airlines offering connections to about 50 destinations.
Kempegowda International Airport is not a large airport so there are not many flights departing here. There are only a few destinations that you can reach from Kempegowda International Airport, most of these are operated by Air India Express. Many people take a flight to Kuala Lumpur and transfer to another flight there.
The Bangalore Kempegowda International Airport is located 40 km from the Central Business district of Bangalore and 30 km from the Bangalore City Railway Station.
The Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corporation (BMTC) offers airport shuttle buses (known as Vayu Vajra) into Bangalore. There are nine different routes so best to inform first which bus will take you to your hotel or destination. The buses operate day and night and a ticket will be around Rs 150.
The airport operator has struck a deal with Classic Cabs India to exclusively offer metered taxis on the airport. Unlike metered taxis on airports elsewhere in India, these are reliable and professional. A ride into the city will cost about Rs 650 to Bangalore's CBD.
