The second biggest airport in Thailand, Phuket International Airport serves the island of Phuket and Phuket province.
Most flights from Phuket International Airport are to Bangkok and to Bangkok but there are many more flights to other destinations as well, most of them by Bangkok Airways. Every day there are flights to 20 destinations from Phuket International Airport. Here are the most popular destinations:
Phuket International Airport has two terminals, Terminal 1 for international flights and Terminal 2 for domestic but they are located next to each other and connected by an air-conditioned walkway.
Phuket airport is situated in the north of the island, 30 km north of Phuket City.
The public Airport bus service connects the airport to the Phuket Town bus station (110 baht, one hour) from where you can take a local bus (30 to 40 baht) to all major beaches on Phuket island.
You can also take the new Shuttle bus, which plies the route between the airport and Patong Beach (120 Baht, 90 minutes, departures every 45 minutes).
The minibus is a good alternative. They charge 150 to 200 baht per seat depending on your destination. Half way they will stop at a travel agent trying to sell you a hotel room, ignore them just tell them where you are going. They will tell the driver who will drop you at your hotel.
