Sayak Airport or also known as Siargao Airport is a small domestic airport located in Barangay Sayak, serving the island Siargao in Surigao del Norte Province.
The airport was built in 1964. Initially, the airport was only able to accommodate small propeller aircraft with a maximum capacity of 19 seats. However, after the upgrade in 2008, the airport can now accommodate aircraft with a capacity of more than 100 passengers.
Sayak Airport is not a large airport so there are not many flights departing here. There are only a few destinations that you can reach from Sayak Airport, most of these are operated by CebGo. Many people take a flight to Cebu and transfer to another flight there.
Siargoa Airport is located in roughly the center of Siargao Island, about 4 km east of Del Carmen, the closest town, and about 20 km northwest of Cloud 9, the famous surfspot.
Most travelers coming to Siargao Island are heading for the surf paradise called Cloud 9. There are many vans waiting outside the terminal heading to Cloud 9. Prices are not fixed and depend on your negotiating power. The van has to go back anyway so you can drive a hard bargain. It will take around 45 minutes to get to Cloud 9.
There are no taxis on the island so if you have another destination than Cloud 9 you can either rent a bike or use the services of the so called Habal-habal (a modified motorcycle).
