Vinh International Airport is a small but quickly growing airport in Central Vietnam. The airport is a mixed civilian and military airport.
Vinh International Airport is not a large airport so there are not many flights departing here. There are only a few destinations that you can reach from Vinh International Airport, most of these are operated by Vietnam Airlines. Many people take a flight to Ho Chi Minh City and transfer to another flight there.
In 2015 a new terminal was opened at a cost of almost US$ 40 million. This increased capacity to 3 million passengers a year while the year before the airport handled half of that.
The Vinh Airport has one runway of 2400 meters, enough for single-aisle jet aircraft like the Boeing 737.
The Vinh Airport is located just 7 kilometers north of the Vinh city center, just east of the main Thang Long road.
There is no public transport at Vinh Airport leaving you with taxis. Taxis from the airport should use the meter, sometimes they refuse and ask for silly prices, just look for another one or walk a bit to the main road. Expect to pay about VND 60.000 for the ride from the airport into Vinh city center.
