Sentani International Airport (DJJ) is an airport serving Jayapura, the capital of Papua province, Indonesia, on the island of New Guinea. Sentani airport is the hub of Papuan aviation and many people's first point of arrival in Papua.
Sentani Airport was part of the American facilities at Hollandia, which was liberated from the Japanese by an American amphibious task force on 22 April 1944. At the end of the war the Hollandia airfield was abandoned but remains in good condition to this day. Sentani Airfield is the only part of the complex still in use as an airfield today. It is used as the principal entry point into the Indonesian half of the island.

Sentani International Airport is located on the island of New Guinea 40 km west of Jayapura.
At Sentani Airport there are airport buses departing to Jayapura between 06:00 and 17:00. The trip to central Jayapura takes about an hour and a one-way ticket is Rp. 50.000. The cheapest option is by angkot (total of about Rp. 20.000) but it involves several transfers and takes twice as long as the airport bus. An ojek to a destination in Jayapura would be Rp. 100.000. For both the ojek and angkot you would need to walk outside the airport to the main road.
A taxi into the city is not cheap: expect to pay between Rp. 350.000 to 400.000 depending your destination in Jayapura. You need to buy a ticket at the official taxi booth just outside the arrival terminal.
