Hat Yai International Airport is not a large airport but it is still the main gateway into Southern Thailand and an important gateway for the Muslim community in Southern Thailand for the pilgrimage to Mecca (Haji).
Facilities are a bit limited: there are ATMs but no official money changers.

There are only a few destinations that you can reach from Hat Yai International Airport, most of these are operated by Thai AirAsia. Many people take a flight to Chiang Mai and transfer to another flight there.
Hat Yai Airport is located 9 km to the southeast from Hat Yai city center.
There is a shared minivan service into the city at 100 baht. At the far end of the parking area departs a songthaew to the city for 30 baht.
A taxi into town can be found in front of the terminal and would cost around 250 baht.
