Sam Ratulangi International Airport (MDC), also known as Manado International Airport, is well-connected with other parts of Indonesia and is named after the Minahasan educator and independence hero Sam Ratulangi. It is designated as one of the 11 main entry ports to Indonesia by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture of Indonesia and serves as the main gateway to the Bunaken National Marine Park. It is currently the hub of Lion Air/Wings Air for the northeastern part of Indonesia and is one of the focus cities of Garuda Indonesia.

Sam Ratulangi International Airport is located in North Sulawesi, 13 km northeast of Manado.
There are no buses at the Aiport but you can go to the city by Mikrolet / bemo. The Mikrolet from Sam Ratulangi airport to Terminal Paal 2 costing Rp. 5.000, where you can change to a mikrolet heading to Pasar 45 or elsewhere in the city, for a flat fee of Rp. 4.000.
Plenty of metered-taxis standby at the airport until the last flight of the day arrives. A taxi from the airport to central Manado takes about 30 minutes (13km) and costs around Rp. 100.000 (bargaining may be necessary).
