The Queenstown Airport serves the city of Queenstown and is also a gateway to southern New Zealand. The Queenstown Airport is growing rapidly and is with 1.5 million passengers a year the fourth busiest airport in New Zealand.
The airport has all the important facilities including a dozen shops (incl. books, pharmacy and watches), free WiFi, lounges, baggage storage and ATM.
In a 2015 survey Queenstown Airport received the most votes for the world's most scenic approach.
Queenstown Airport is not a large airport so there are not many flights departing here. There are only a few destinations that you can reach from Queenstown Airport, most of these are operated by Qantas. Many people take a flight to Melbourne and transfer to another flight there.
The Queenstown International Airport is located about 6 km east of the city center.
Queenstown Airport is one of the few airports in New Zealand which has a public bus stop. Several bus companies offer services here. Connectabus connects the airport to Queenstown, departing every 15 minutes ($ 12 per adult) or to Wanaka twice daily ($ 35). Alpine Connections also has services (4x daily) to Wanaka.
Super Shuttle offers a shared door-to-door shuttle service using mini-coach for a maximum of 11 people (around $8 if there are enough people). A taxi into town would cost about $ 20 to 25.
