Greensboro Airport, also known as Piedmont Triad International Airport (PTIA), is a public airport located in Guilford County, North Carolina, USA. The airport serves the Piedmont Triad region, which includes Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point.
The airport was originally built in 1927 as a private airport for the Cone family, who owned a textile mill in the area. After the war, the airport was returned to civilian use and has since undergone several expansions and renovations to accommodate the growing number of passengers.
Today, Greensboro Airport covers an area of 2,800 acres and has two runways. It serves as a hub for FedEx Express and is also used by several major airlines, including American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, and United Airlines. In 2019, the airport served over 1.2 million passengers.
