Langkawi International Airport is one of the busiest Malaysian airport located on the island of Langkawi in the state of Kedah. Langkawi is a popular tourist destination. The island is situated of the west coast of Peninsular Malaysia near the border with Thailand.
Every year the Langkawi International Airport is the venue for the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA), an aerospace event with performances for the public.
Langkawi International Airport is not a large airport so there are not many flights departing here. There are only a few destinations that you can reach from Langkawi International Airport, most of these are operated by AirAsia. Many people take a flight to Kuala Lumpur and transfer to another flight there.
Langkawi International Airport is located at the western side of the island, about 10km west of the main town Kuah and 5 km north of Cenang.
On the island of Langkawi is no public transportation which limits your choices to use a taxi or rent your own transportation (car, motorbike or bicycle). A taxi from Langkawi International Airport to the main beach at Pantai Cenang costs about RM 20. A car or motorbike can be rented at the airport. For a medium-sized car one day rent is about RM 100 to RM 150, a motorbike costs around RM 45 per day.
