The Wuhan Tianhe International Airport is the largest airport in central China and due to its central location a hub for Air China, China Southern and China Eastern offering many flights to well over a hundred destinations in the country.
The airport handles around 13 million passengers a year which makes it the 14th busiest in China.
Wuhan Tianhe International Airport is not a large airport so there are not many flights departing here. There are only a few destinations that you can reach from Wuhan Tianhe International Airport, most of these are operated by China Southern Airlines. Many people take a flight to Guangzhou and transfer to another flight there.
The airport has two terminals, the new domestic Terminal 2 and while the old Terminal 1 is now used for international flights only.
The Wuhan Tianhe International Airport is located around 25 km north of Wuhan center.
Taxis are available but as the city is 25 km away it can be expensive. There is a bus service between the airport and Hankou, one of the old cities north of the Yangtze River that now make up Wuhan.
The best way to get from the airport is the new Wuhan Metro Line 2 Airport link which opened in 2015. You can go anywhere in the city with the metro for only RMB 7.
